THE ORIGIN /BACKGROUND OF THE SAMIA PEOPLE.
The Samia people are the Bantu speaking ethnic group in eastern Uganda are believed to have originated from western Kenya through migration patterns.
They are closely related to the Luhya people of Kenya and share linguistic and cultural similarities whereby they have diverse ancestral connections and are currently living in the districts of Iganga, Tororo and Busia.
this is the only Luhya subgroup of people that is found in both Kenya and Uganda, occupying the shoes of Lake Victoria. They spread up to the rocky hills of Tororo, cumulatively making a population of about 665000.
they are also believed to have originated from the Congo region as part of the larger Bantu migration, which took place over several centuries and settled around Busia along the present- day Uganda-Kenya border. The Samia mainly speak lusamia as their official language which is mutually intelligibly without Luhya dialects.
